Charity is one of the cornerstones of Freemasonry and St Nicholas is actively involved in raising money for charity. This is regarded as one of the most important and rewarding aspects of Freemasonry.
As well as participating in national and regional charitable campaigns, St Nicholas Lodge has, in recent years, donated money to a number of local charities including:
- Westway Open Arms & Sparks Project supporting our local communities and those in need.
- Andy’s Man’s Club to support a local men’s suicide prevention charity.
- Scarborough Junior Swimming Club – to support swimming lessons for children under 5 years of age.
- Eastfield Karate Club – to enable members to compete in the National Championships.
- Saint Catherine’s Hospice – to support care at St Catherine’s and at home.
- Scarborough Talking News (for the blind and partially-sighted)
Other more recent donations have been to Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Samaritans, Salvation Army, Local Scouts Groups, Scarborough Hospital, First Light Trust, Royal British Legion and many more.
