Welcome to the May edition of the St Nicholas Lodge Bugle, and for once this edition finds us in a continued and welcome period of sunny weather. Pictured above is the Hawthorn flower which is in abundance at the moment and its appearance usually is a sign of Spring transitioning to Summer – although we could be forgiven for thinking it is here already!
Our May meeting saw the passing of Bro. Daniel Watson (who joined in October 2024) who was treated to an excellent ceremony despite the number of last-minute stand in’s. Thanks to W. Bro Roger Kaye as Senior Deacon, W. Bro. Tony Hewitt as Inner Guard, W. Bro John White as Junior Warden and W. Bro Jimmy Morrison as Tyler.
We were also delighted to welcome a joining member, Bro Ian Brownbridge, who following a successful ballot, was admitted in to the lodge. We hope Bro. Brownbridge has many enjoyable years in the St Nicholas Lodge.
We were pleased to be visited by 12 visitors from 6 lodges. Amongst the visitors we were also honoured by the presence of W. Bro Martin Eggermont, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master who was visiting in a private capacity. Praise to our Worshipful Master, Scott Davison who was excellent.
The entrusting was delivered by W. Cedric Thornton and the South East Corner by W. Bro John White.
The working tools were presented by Bro. Alex Blackman who was excellent. Well done all!
The festive board was lively as always and the excellent response from the visitors was given by W. Bro Mickey Ward, Worshipful Master of the Old Globe Lodge no. 200.
