Dear Brethren,
Welcome to the September edition of the St Nicholas Lodge Bugle. This summer certainly has been a notably good one for warm and dry weather however with the recent North York Moors fires and effects on harvests, shows us the winners and losers of our climate. September is a month to enjoy autumn flowers, and the Aster and Morning Glory are this month’s birth flowers. Like Masonry these flowers have meaning, and in this instance Morning Glory, known for its rapid growth and quick blooming represents love, affection and longing. Indeed. The Aster represents wisdom, faith and innocence and were also used to ward off evil spirits and negative energy. Just like a lodge meeting then!
As we move into September it not only marks the end of Summer but the beginning of Autumn, as it that transitional month that eases us back into the regular rhythm of our lives, including Freemasonry.
An initiation is always a special occasion, and we were delighted to initiate into the lodge, Bro. Graeme Cooper who was proposed by Bro. Heath Samples and seconded by Bro. Alex Blackman. A big welcome to Bro. Graeme and we hope you have any happy years in St. Nicholas Lodge
The ceremony was one to be proud of, led by our Worshipful Master, Scott Davison. The candidate was conducted around with confidence by Bro. Tony Luddon and was given excellent set pieces by Bro Alex Blackman with the Northeast Corner, Bro. Heath Samples with the working tools, and Bro. Adam Rock from the Lodge of Alliance 5811 delivering the ancient charge. Well done to all, and truly a team effort!
